Since the first edition we’ve given ourselves aims that we’re reaching, thanks to the big cooperation of the Historical Group, and to the enthusiasm of our wonderful boys and girls (
Chiarine e Tamburi).
Thanks to the collaboration of the Associations, the Public Institutions, the Traders, the private citizens and those who are helping us.
Our goal was the creation of a “festival” for everybody, involving people of every age, interests and formation, trying to bring out the local territory values, re-descovering culture, customs and habits and exploiting tourism potentials.
The
Ferie Medievali want to be, as a matter of fact, a harmonious whole of history, culture, show, re-discovering of sites (the “ricetti”, the ancient village and the pictoresques sites) and ancients eno-gastronomic recipes, created to address all the visitors to live the past times fascination.
Every year we try to give to our event a specific mark and message. This year the “Ferie Medievali” are dedicated to our “masnà” (the village youngsters) with their young age and carefreeness, as they give us “simplicity, spontaneity and joie de vivre” .
To our visitors we’ll always give new attractions and new shows; the art exhibitions and the painting show, the equestrian joust, the tournament of historical duel, the historical parades, the concerts and all the animations are the “clou” of the “Ferie”.
Our aim is, as ever, to transmit to everybody that special magic, that joy and serenity feeling that makes our event a “special event”.
Well then… may trumpets blare…may drums roll and “may feast begin” !!!

XI TORNEO NAZIONALE DI DUELLO STORICO
V “FUROR ET FERRUM” - INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF HISTORICAL DUEL
I am happy and proud to announce that once again, we all gather in Pavone, from many italian regions and every land of Europe for the Eleventh Italian National Tournament and the Fifth International "FUROR ET FERRUM". We will find ourselves again in this ancient and warm village, in order to give a test of mastership and talent and in order to amuse ourselves and to astonish all those who will choose to divide with us their time, their interest and their joyful passion.
As usual, a prestigious national and international jury, will decide which company or academy will show the best mix between technique, equipment and representation of past times duels.
Many old friends are returning and new re-enactors will join us from almost every nation of Europe and in the long list of countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Slowakia, Switzerland) it joins Poland with one company from Warsaw.
In the Italian Tournament new Academies and Companies are joining us for the first time, and the best companies of the past years are coming back as usual, assuring us that we’re doing a good job and giving us new strength for the future of this Tournament.
We’ve decided with “Ij Ruset” many years ago to bring to Pavone this experience, following two first italian attempts made by others in the nineties, that unluckily ended after two editions. We’ve changed the rules and the “format” trying to reach a good balance for the historical duels, from XI to XIX century, to be shown and judged through technique skills, philological coherence of the chosen period and ability in the scenical “representation”, with the didactic goals to divulgate, popularize and, why not, to attract and amuse the people coming to see these passionate and “crazy” re-enactors from all Italy first and then from all Europe. Our work has been rewarded. Our little-big european event after eleven years is still growing thanks to the passion and good-will of many friends that have found in Pavone’s experience, something that has to continue to widely spread as it is a wonderful opportunity to show-off but most of all it is a big chance to meet and exchange experiences from all Europe. A gathering of passionate companions in harmony, in noble rivalry and fraternal friendship all united by one simple love: History.
So, I welcome all the Companies, Academies and Groups invited to Pavone’s tournaments once again. May the usual magic of the enthusiasm, the love and the passion that pervades your nobles Spirits and thy Art, once again, pervade and live in the ancient village of Pavone during these wonderful days.
