VII International Tournament of Historical Duel “FUROR ET FERRUM”
Fencing is a science. Loving is a passion. Duelling is an obsession.
To Arms ! To “Arts” ! The Arms obviously are the historical ones and the Arts are your undisputed skills in, passionately, re-enacting historical duels by the ancients fencing schools, in front of the great crowd that will, as usual, reach Pavone Canavese and in front of a selected International Jury of Fencing Masters.
It’s time for Tournaments: the 7th edition of the International Tournament of Historical Duel “FUROR ET FERRUM” © and the 13th edition of the National Italian Tournament that will be held during the XVI Ferie Medievali di Pavone Canavese (Turin) in Italy on the 5 and 6 of June 2010.
As every year we’ll be hosting from entire Europe, and from every Italian region hundreds of excellent masters, choreographers, fencers, re-enactors of the historical martial arts and we’ll reward who will show the best mix between technique, equipment and presentation of a duel from the past, giving new life to the ancient village during some unforgettable days.
Many old friends are returning to Pavone and every year new re-enactors come from all Europe.
To the long list of countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Norway, Holland, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland) I’m proud to announce that we will welcome for the first time two Companies coming from Russian Confederation and one company from Hungary; I also want to underline the pleasant return of France to our tournament.
I’m very honoured and proud to welcome as President of the International Jury this year Master Renzo Musumeci-Greco, the prestigious representative of a titled great dynasty of Fencing Masters, Choreographers and Directors of stage fight (Theatre, Movie, Opera, TV) and also well awarded in Olympic fencing. The “Greco Academy” in Rome is a world known landmark in Fencing discipline since 1878.
The prestigious Jury is joined by another excellence:
Ms. Martina Ganassin, former Foil Italian Champion, International Referee, fencing master of the Italian federation and skilled fight choreographer.
Our 13th Italian Tournament sees many new companies defying the best italian companies of the past years, that are coming back with enthusiasm, proving us the well done hard work that we’ve made until now, encouraging us for the future.
Our event, our historical festival is continuing to develop thanks to the passion and the goodwill of many Friends that think of Pavone as a wonderful showcase but most of all as an important chance to meet and exchange experiences coming from all around Europe.
So, I have the pleasure and the honour of welcoming all the Companies, Academies and Groips invited to the Pavone Tournaments.
May the magic of enthusiasm, love and passion that belongs to your noble Spirits and to your Art, pervade and live, once again through the ancient village of Pavone during these marvellous days of holyday.
